Le Manoir du Diable (1896) - Georges Méliès
Therefore, I state that now is the' death anniversary of one of the most important writers of the last century, Eric Arthur Blair , perhaps better known the pseudonym George Orwell , born June 25, 1903, and died exactly 21 January 1950.
Unfortunately this is not the appropriate place to talk about it, as Orwell has little to do with the macabre, although his works are warning of Horrors tutt 'other than human ...
So let us all 'anniversary the death of an important figure in the field of cinema, namely the French filmmaker and magician Georges Maries Jean Méliès , born at Paris' December 8, 1861, and died January 21, 1938.
Briefly, when the Lumiere Brothers can be considered the fathers of cinema, two fathers who saw no future for her child, we can say that it is George Méliès stepfather. The refusal of the Lumière
to sell their patents, Méliès was forced to recreate the 'invention of the brothers, then perfect it.
is to him that it must in fact the 'introduction of techniques now considered basic, such as installation, used by the director in a fun way to stage new and extreme forms of illusions which astound the public. With mounting
tricks, he manages to get rid of such objects and people, just stopping to shoot the subject, and then go back when it was removed from the 'shot, or maybe it was replaced with another object or 'other person. It is said that he has invented this technique, called Stop Trick , coincidentally, while filming the traffic of a street in Paris. The passage of a carriage, the camera stopped accidentally shooting, before returning to work for the passage of a hearse. Its effect on film was the 'sudden and unexpected transformation of the carriage into the hearse.
Worth mentioning is also the 'introduction of the "color". We think that this work was done by women who manually color the film in its entirety, one frame at a time.
Thanks to ingenious experimental methods to impress and manipulate the film, he can split, can be changed, can disappear and reappear, zoom in and out, move faster or slower, can carry the audience with new, strange and fantastic worlds.
Georges Méliès is actually the one who is called " the 'Inventor of Special Effects ", as well as the promoter of science fiction cinema, and it is worth mentioning here the beautiful and iconic Le Voyage dans la Lune, 1902 .
Now we come to our camp, as it attaches to even the implementation Méliès the first film of 'Horror.
This film, obviously dumb and Black & White, Le Manoir du Diable , directed and performed by Méliès in 1896, and projected December 24 of that year in Robert Houdin Theatre Paris.
As most of the productions of the director, the film shows the supernatural elements, this time atmosphere conducive to a more somber note, as skeletons, witches, ghosts and devils, among which stands the figure of Mephistopheles, played by Méliès himself, always ready to get involved. Joining him
says his wife Jeanne d 'Alcy , the first ever French film actress, in fact his first appearance here.
For a period of 3 minutes, short, simple in its scenery, is not that 's just another excuse for the director to stage the tricks of the trade, and impress everyone' now his audience.
is the short ...

Watch out for the spoiler ...
" the patient to a mental hospital, a man whose name was not revealed to us, a man from 'lucid air, however, although visibly upset and lonely, begs her psychiatrist to burn a mysterious diary because no one else is aware of what is written there.
It inherited the diary, along with other documents, on the death of his old uncle, Professor Angell , an archaeologist.
pages, notes and newspaper articles related strangely all have to do with enigmatic events that occurred a few years before all over the world, all in the seventh round to March 27, 1927, events on which the 'archaeologist had decided to investigate, as well as his grandson after him.
Their findings, through the direct testimony of individual claims, and frightening dreams and visions of gigantic ancient cities in ruins, and hysterical and macabre ritual, reveal the 'Cult of the existence of "gods" Cthulhu .
What you hear is his horrible recall, and can only lead those who follow the crowd and then the Death ... "
The Call of Cthulhu is a silent film of 2005, directed by Andrew Leman , which produces the film along to writer Sean Branney .
This little gem is the first film adaptation of what is probably the best known of the works of American writer Howard Phillips Lovecraft , that 's namesake story The Call of Cthulhu , Recall Cthulhu , written in 1926 (and who has never heard of Cthulhu will be the first to perish under its tentacles in its wake).
The film is distributed by HP Lovecraft Historical Society , " HPLHS " which is co-founder Leman, a company that promotes the of literary, film, music, games, theater and radio production-based writer of Providence.
The technique used is that of Mythoscope , that by combining various cinematic techniques, it allows the film to take the fascinating atmosphere, strictly Black & White, horror films of the early "20, agreeing that the period in which the plot takes place, as well as that in which the story was written and published.
Everything, including drama and music, it works very well, and, apart from some small flaw at the technical level, it is very suggestive and engaging, not for nothing is award-winning ...
The plot remains fairly faithful to the 'work of Lovecraft, and it just stands out in some small step is not too great.
The depths and models used for some scenes are simple but well made, although sometimes known enough 's use of Green Screen .
Apparently the 'use of Black & White helped greatly, since, totally eliminating the problem of the color, it was not necessary to spend too much time to decorate the set.
The dreamlike visions I have brought to mind the sharpness of the scenarios of 'expressionist Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari , the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari , directed in 1920 by Robert Wiene , as well as the Tim Burton of the first period, however, that in turn probably goes back to 'German Expressionism (eg' Edward Scissorhands Burton reminds me of the distant Caesar Wien).
not much I appreciated the aesthetic of Cthulhu , too skinny compared to 'massive image that I had in mind, but still good' s use of Stop Motion that by the movements.
We say that the film alternates scenes really perfect in scenes that could be made better ...
Wanting there is also the official site, to 'address www.cthulhulives.org / cocmovie / index.htm , where you can read a sort of diary Attainment , find more information about cast, and listen to the music of the film, the more you can reconnect to the site of HPLHP to give a sneak peek at future projects.

small way, I discovered that the name probably derives from Professor Angell Angell Street, where Lovecraft road lived in his childhood. To underline the small

Words Of Condolence For A Los
Resting in the Blues
"Early this morning, When you knocked upon my door ...
and I Said" Hello Satan. I believe it's time to go ". "
(early this morning when you knocked on my door / and I said" Hello Satan. I think it's time to go ")
knew some Robert that came from south by the Mississippi , where the river opens up and flows into the delta. He was recently married to a young girl. He said he loved the music, knowing how to play guitar and harmonica. But we all regard this as an inept, just brought to the music: the instrument was awkward and pathetic, absolutely deadpan, moreover, was enough a few evenings with guitars in hand to prove it.
His wife was expecting a child, and both had moved down to Robinsonville . From here on we only know that she died during childbirth and that Robert, quell'impacciato guitarist, he disappeared.
"I got to keep moving blues ... 'falling down like hail ...
There's a hall-hound on my trail. "
(I have to move / come down like hail blues / There is a demon hell on my trail)
For a whole year no one saw or heard news of the man. In the end no one was missing its clumsiness. Someone thought he recognized a shadowy figure that was around a guitar at night among the tombstones of cemeteries across the Mississippi Delta.
fact is that Robert Johnson reappeared, but could not be more different and distant from the image-conscious and off, mortified at the beginning of the unfortunate player.
where he had been during those months? Those who had met him? What he saw because his vocals resonate like a cry so harrowing and ice? What had happened to his hands, that so wonderfully "made to speak" guitar strings? Who or what had done to his voice that stamp so deep and painful? No one could explain it.
He began playing in clubs. All they remained amazed, shocked, and he had the blues , seemed to have seen things that nobody else could imagine, horrors ancestral, that every time they took life from his vocal chords from his guitar.
"I Went Down to the crossroad,
fell down on my knees"
(I came down to the crossroads / and I fell on my knees)
They started a strange rumors. He showed no signs of anything ever, but the songs speak in his place ...
You heard of a midnight, a dark midnight of one of those desperate days of wandering. Poor Bob fell on his knees, overwhelmed by the darkness that hung over her shoulders, perhaps turning desperate prayers to God or the Devil. One of them answered.
In that desolate intersection, an area unknown, unknown in the night, Robert was approached by a strange figure. They talked about - what was said, who knows? - Maybe Robert continued to moan and whine about his knees, pleading ... So I went
transfigured, so he began to sound like nobody else in the world, singing stories of nightmares, screaming and crying with the notes.
But he was not. Wildly addicted to the bottle and the easy sex, barely connects him to the old Robert: I was like damn, damn. It is said that in the back of his black eyes shine brightly and evil ... a body without a soul.
And maybe it was really soulless, when his fame was growing, when his blues was celebrated throughout the delta, where had kept a record with any recording session, just then was recalled : death, suffering, after days of agony, for reasons that no one ever understood.
of him that there remained some unsettling memories and recording ... He had the blues, had its price.
Ask around, you will indicate that the end did what was left of the soul of Robert Johnson his death ...
